About becbaker
Kidney Health Australia along with a lot of other charities is often a charity that is overlooked when it comes to people raising money. Like all charities, Kidney Health Australia do an amazing job and is an extremely important charity. Kidneys are organs that a lot of people are not aware of just how important they are for their body to function correctly. Speaking personally from a lifetime of kidney problems I have become well aware of how important it is to look after your kidneys as best you can, and experience it regularly what it feels like not to have healthy kidneys. I am one of the lucky ones, I am able to live almost a fully normal life even though my kidneys are not 100% But unfortunately their are so many children and adults that have to dramatically change their life style to cater for their kidney problems. Walking from Mount Gambier to Darwin is going to be one of the biggest challenges in my life. I started planning this trip 12 months prior to leaving. But I honestly believe with all the support I have been given and am still receiving, that I will be able to complete this walk with no hesitations at all. I thank you so much for taking the time to visit my page, and do hope you continue to follow my progress :)

  1. Hi Bec. Only just heard about your amazing journey from KHA. Having cycled from Adelaide to Darwin 2 years ago for Kidney Health, I thought it was tough enough on a bicycle. My youngest daughter was born with a kidney disorder and it grieves me that so little media attention is given to kidney disease, despite the fact that it kills more people than breast cancer, road deaths and suicide. I think you are very courageous and I trust that everyone you meet along the way will show you the same kindness and generosity of spirit that you are showing.
All the best. Take care. I admire your determination. Always keep a joyful song in your heart, particularly for those days when you feel that the odds are stacked against you. Believe me, when you finish this epic walk, you will look back on the happy times, even though it’s the tough times that make you stronger.
    Cheers,
    Margie Raynor
    Adelaide.

    Hi Margie
thank u so much for your kind words. It frustrates me too the fact that kidney disease gets so little attention. But with more people doing fundraising hopefully will become more aware of it. I cannot update this site as I don’t have a computer. I update my everyday hero website regulally though so you follow my progress on there 🙂 thanks again for your kind and inspriring words. Annette Smith told me all about you and the ride you did and I think it’s amazing. I’d hate to peddal up some of these hills!! Lol!
    Take care
    kind regards Bec
p.s. I hope your daughter is in good health and spirits xo
